This tour is for the young at heart – definitely not for the average city slicker. Accommodation is rustic, but comfortable and clean. More often than not, it is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city, ensuring a closer-to-nature African experience. The routing allows the client to see all the highlights of South Africa in an unhurried pace without wasting any precious holiday time.

Day 1
You will be met on arrival at Johannesburg International Airport by a Welcome Tourism Services representative, handed your world-class documentation and assisted to the Europcar rental counter to collect your vehicle. From the airport, travel to the Drifters Johannesburg Inn. Situated in Northcliff, a well-established suburb of north west Johannesburg, this beautifully renovated thatched house makes for an excellent overnight stop to recover from the long flight.

Day 2
Leave Johannesburg and travel in an easterly direction via Witbank, Middleburg, Lydenburg and Hoedspruit to the Balule Game Reserve adjoining the Kruger National Park. Arrive at your home for the next two days, Drifters Game Lodge.

Day 3
Today you spend the whole day relaxing and exploring the African bushveld. Your ranger will explain the habits of the better known large game and focus on the secrets of the smaller species. For the more adventurous, a game walk is on offer and is included in the package.

Day 4
Your journey continues along the world renowned Panoramic Route, where you can visit the Blyde River Canyon, Bourkes Luck Potholes, God’s Window, Pilgrims Rest and numerous waterfalls. In the late afternoon you arrive at Drifters Hazyview Inn – the ideal base from which to explore both the Kruger National Park and other scenic attractions in the area.

Day 5
Depart Hazyview and travel via Nelspruit, Badplaas and Pongola to the heart of Zululand – Hluhluwe. Spend the next two nights at Zululand Drifters Inn, located in a sand forest, on a small private reserve overlooking False Bay.

Day 6
Today, you can enjoy various excursions in this area. We recommend a visit to Hluhluwe, Umfolozi or Mkuzi Game Reserves, St Lucia Wetlands Reserve or the beaches of Sodwana Bay.

Day 7
Travel in a southerly direction to the coastal town of Umhloti, situated right on the beaches of the Indian Ocean. Your Inn for the night is literally built on the beach and overlooks the crashing waves.

Day 8
Today holds many options for you. Enjoy sunbathing on the beach, visit South Africa’s largest harbour city of Durban, go shopping at the Indian Plaza or visit the Aquarium.

Day 9
Continue southwards along the Wild Coast to arrive in Port St John for your next overnight before you enter the areas of the Ciskei and Transkei, previously homelands and home to the Xhosa people of South Africa. Your bungalow is nestled amidst the lush garden of the resort.

Day 10
The trip continues through the former homelands to Stutterheim, situated at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Kologha Mountains. The town, named after General Richard von Stutterheim, was founded in 1837 by soldiers who had fought during the Sixth Frontier War in 1835.

Day 11
Follow the National Highway to East London and onwards to the famous Addo Elephant Park, situated in a malaria free area just one hour's drive from the South African coastal city of Port Elizabeth.

You have the opportunity to relax in this tranquil environment and enjoy true African serenity.

Day 13
Continue on your journey of discovery. Pass through Port Elizabeth and Plettenberg Bay on your way to Knysna. Knysna Hollow Country Estate is beautifully set on an old, secluded country estate near Knysna’s famous lagoon. Set amongst timeless pecan and oak trees, the gracious old manor house forms the focal point of the lodge.

Day 14
Travel along the Outiniqua mountain range and arrive in Oudtshoorn, situated in the Karoo – South Africa’s semi-desert, to see the magnificent Cango Caves, visit an ostrich farm or explore the historical centre of town.

Day 15
Leaving the Garden Route travel via Mossel Bay, Swellendam and the apple orchards of Grabouw to Cape Town. Located very close to the beachfront in Sea Point, your Inn provides you with an ideal base from which explore the Mother City.

Day 16
We recommend a day trip to Cape Point and the Winelands, or a ferry ride to the world famous Robben Island, which served as a high security prison for political dissidents for many years. A wide variety of Welcome Tourism Services day tours are also available.

Day 17
Before returning your car to Cape Town International Airport, we recommend you visit the world famous Table Mountain for spectacular views of the city and surrounds.
