Africa is known for the vast conservation areas protecting its unique
flora and fauna. This itinerary will provide the traveller with a balanced
routing including most of the major sight-seeing highlights with a special
emphasis on the game and nature reserves.
Kindly
note that this tour has been designed in such a way that no overnight
is required in Johannesburg before departing, as the driving distance
is short on the first day.
Day
1 and 2:
You will be met on arrival at Johannesburg International Airport by
a Welcome Tourism Services representative, handed your world-class documentation
and assisted to the Europcar rental counter to collect your vehicle.
Travel through Witbank, Middelburg and Belfast before arriving in the
magnificent trout fishing village of Dullstroom.
Approximate travel time: 2.5 Hours from Johannesburg to Dullstroom

Day
3 and 4:
Travel via Ohrigstad and Hoedspruit before entering the Kruger National
Park through Orpen Gate in the late morning. The trip to your rest camp
will allow for the opportunity to see some of the wildlife South Africa
is renowned for.
Approximate travel time: 5 Hours from Dullstroom to the Kruger National
Park

Day
5:
After having explored the northern part of the Park you now move south
and notice the distinct change in the flora and landscape. Please note:
an optional extra upgrade to a guided open safari vehicle is available
from Skukuza Rest Camp.

Day
6, 7 and 8:
The journey now continues past Swaziland to KwaZulu-Natal, home of the
Zulu tribes and some of the most scenic nature reserves in South Africa.
Enjoy three nights near Hluhluwe, known for its mountainous terrain
and high densities of rhino, a highly endangered species. Hluhluwe River
Lodge is situated on the western shore of Lake St Lucia and adjoining
False Bay Game Reserve and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. Nearby
is the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park which offers the opportunity of viewing
the Big 5 from an open safari vehicle and the False Bay sandforest,
home to the Suni, one of Africas smallest antelope.

Day
9:
After breakfast, leave the bush experience behind you and take a step
back into the history of the Zulu people. Experience the mystery and
magic of pulsating tribal rhythms, assegaai-wielding warriors and the
rituals of the Sangoma interpreting messages from the spirits. Shakaland
is one of South Africas most unique tourist attractions and is
beautifully set amongst mountains and rivers.

Day
10:
After breakfast, continue partly along the Dolphin Coast to Durban,
the largest harbour city in South Africa, for your scheduled flight
to Port Elizabeth (not included rate on request). On arrival
in Port Elizabeth, proceed to the Europcar rental counter to collect
your vehicle. Travel a short distance to your overnight stop. You will
have some time to look around and enjoy dinner in a beach-facing restaurant.
Approximate travel time: 2 Hours from Shakaland to Durban International
Airport.

Day
11, 12 and 13:
Today travel along the scenic Garden Route with its many sight-seeing
opportunities to an area situated near the seaside resort of Wilderness.
Explore the surrounding wetlands and lagoons.
Approximate travel time: 6 Hours from Port Elizabeth to Wilderness National

Day
14 and 15:
The tour continues through some of the loveliest areas of South Africa
to Beaufort West, home to one of the smallest National Parks South Africa
has to offer. Accommodation is far from civilisation and the night skies
are indescribable.

National Park

Day
16:
Continue to the Mother City of Cape Town, returning your rental vehicle
in Cape Town or at the International Airport.
Approximate travel time: 5 Hours from Karoo National Park to Cape Town
or the International Airport.
