This tour brings you closer to Africa’s wildlife. Explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta - a fan-shaped oasis with a maze of channels, lagoons and islands which attract an abundance of animals and birds. Combine this with Chobe National Park, where great herds gather. This is an exciting itinerary which reveals the best of Botswana in a one week trip.

DAY 1: PALAPYE
Departing Pretoria, known as the Jacaranda City, we set off for the border into Botswana. We drive on to our first overnight stop in Palapye which takes its name from the Impala antelope which was abundant in the area.

DAYS 2 – 4: OKAVANGO DELTA
Crossing the flat country of the Kalahari, our route takes us along the southern edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Our destination is Maun, chief town of the Tawana people, which provides our gateway into the Okavango Delta. There is the option to fly *,by small aircraft, over one of the world’s last great wildernesses. The waters of the Delta, born in Angola, fan out into a maze of interconnecting channels, before vanishing into the sands of the desert. With local polers, we venture into the Delta using dugout canoes, gliding past a vast array of animal and bird life. We spend a night wild camping on an island far removed from civilization and the next day follow our guide on an early morning bush walk.

DAYS 5 & 6: CHOBE SAFARI LODGE
From Maun, we continue to Kasane, close to Botswana's northern border. We enter Chobe National Park which is one of the richest wildlife areas in Botswana. There is an abundance of game, in particular, herds of buffalo and elephant. We use open safari vehicles for our morning game drive and in the afternoon take a boat cruise up the Chobe River. The sight of great numbers of animals gathered on the river banks, especially in the dry season, provides a memorable experience.

DAY 7: VICTORIA FALLS
We head off early for the town of Victoria Falls, in order to maximize your time there. Although the tour ends, the lure of the “Smoke that Thunders” with its almost endless choice of adventure activities* awaits you.
